Lone Star Nelson

We walked into Lone Star Nelson without a booking and were welcomed straight away, which was a great start to the night. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, perfect for a casual dinner out. We started with a jug of mango margarita and a couple of mocktails — super refreshing and well balanced. For starters, we shared the ribs, which were tender, flavourful, and a great way to kick things off. For mains, we ordered the 300g Stir Crazy Sirloin and the 220g Wrangler Sirloin. Both steaks were cooked exactly as requested, juicy, and full of flavour, with generous portions that definitely didn’t disappoint. Overall, the food, drinks, and service were spot on. Even without a booking, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. Would happily come back again next time we’re in Nelson.

Great atmosphere and service. My husband had the "Stir Crazy Sirloin" which was perfectly cooked to his liking. I had the "Deer John" which unfortunately was a bit on the dry side.

Dinner for two families, service was great, food came out fast and was great. Kids meals were perfect and came with drinks which was great. Staff were attentive without being overwhelming, and were really awesome when one of the kids broke a glass. Appeared and cleaned up no fuss, no issue. Used the loyalty App as well and got kids dinners for free during school holidays. Would definitely go back.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The food was incredible and the guy (manager? Owner?) was very knowledgeable about food in general and recommendations that would suit our taste. Best food I’ve had on my NZ trip so far and I wish I would be back in Nelson to try other items on the menu. You rarely see places paying that much attention to every detail of the food they serve. Highly recommend. We had the ribeye steak, lamb shoulder and cheesecake.

We stumbled apon Lone Star trying to find somewhere to eat and our server Robbie, who seemed a bit hot and run off his feet still managed to serve with a smile and the best service. Polite and welcoming, throughly enjoyed our meal even though it took a little longer it was just yummy so well worth the bit of a wait. Big ups to Lone Star for wonderful staff especially your Robbie, kept us happy and smiling.

Amazing night out, great food paired with even more amazing service! Both Robbie and Liv took turns serving us and my god we couldn’t have asked for better! Super friendly while upholding the level of professionalism higher than what is expected for a bar/restaurant environment. Will be back very soon! If not for the caeser salad, then defs for the level of service we experienced!

Had the ribeye steak and a big aussie red…. the steak was fantastic… perfectly cooked and super tasty and very big … nice friendly attentive service. My wife had the pork … again very good but man oh man … the steak was the star. A very VERY good meal.

Great food, the muscles are delicious! The steaks even better. The music was a little loud as we found ourselves shouting at one another, but the staff were great when I asked them to turn it down a little. Will be back! Also great portions of food!!
